Paranoid Park
Whooa. This book went in the totally opposite direction from the two books before it, PROM and GENDER BLENDER. Paranoid is totally dark and scary. Super simple plot: nice kid kills someone by accident. What does he do? I wrote the thing really fast, I loved it of course, but I figured no one else would. It was too dark, too psychological. Then my agents, editors, friends, etc, read it and freaked out. They thought it was great! I was like, okay, if you say so. We'll see how it does in September.
