Exile
My difficult second novel. It's for adults, it's about a 31-year-old poet who's having a hard time. It was a struggle to write it. GIRL had done so well, and was in the process of being made into the movie GIRL. There seemed to be a lot of pressure. I forced my way through it and thought: oh this probably sucks. Revelation: what I think has very little to do with it. EXILE didn't suck. A lot of people think it's my best.
